Youth engagement training launched in Leer

By September 2023, 50 active classes enrolled 1,626+ youth (846 in Leer, 780 in Mayiandit), with ongoing monitoring and community-led mobilization.MHA opened USAID Youth Empowerment Activity classes across Leer and Mayiandit—with pathway 1 literacy and Work Ready Now training, pathway 2 cohorts, and trainers supported by EDC.

Cohort 1 training began in June 2023; pathway 2 classes followed in August, with training-of-trainers, venue verification, and pairing of youth corps leaders across payams.

Classes covered basic education literacy and numeracy, audio Work Ready Now lessons, soft skills, and wellbeing—with supervisors visiting centers on foot when roads were impassable.

MHA implements YEA with EDC as prime partner, alongside DRC, SFCG, and national NGOs, with local chiefs and payam administrators supporting recruitment.
